Batman loves his Cat Malt paste for hairball digestion

Batman loves eating his Trixie Cat Malt. I give him a spoonful once per week and it helps a lot with his digestion. I believe it is essential especially for long hair cats, helping a lot with hair balls and swallowed hair. If you have a cat and think about cat malt, check out the Trixie Cat Malt (and support Batman) through this affiliate link:...

We Have Been Working On Something…

We have started working again. This begun some months ago. Me and Batman are waking up from our creative sleep. Kortessa is eager to reveal more, but I want to share the additional details as soon as they are 100% certified . This concerns both Dol Ammad and Dol Theeta. It’s not a full album, although this is also coming up. Stay in touch...

Dol Ammad and Grav game epic space mashup

I recently discovered an amazing new indie game from Bitmonster Games (thanx Logan :P) The game is called Grav and is a space action survival open world game that blew my mind! It would be a dream come true if I could ever get to compose music for such a beautiful and epic game. Until then, I took the liberty to put together a mashup music video using the official Grav trailers and gameplay footage with the music of Dol Ammad’s – Caravan Of Mars. Here are the videos and game players channels that I used: GRAV – Top...

Drumming for Synthetic

I recently had the honor to be asked to play and record the drums for the debut album of a newly formed heavy metal band called “Synthetic”. Synthetic features members from the band Synesthesia and who live both in Greece and also in the UK. Synthetic fuse various metal genres, progressive, traditional, melodic and aggressive. They should satisfy any metal fan but especially fans of Nevermore, Fear Factory and Soilwork. Their album is currently being mixed by Ettore Rigotti (known from his work with Disarmonia Mundi) and will also feature a special guest drumming from the amazing Dirk Verbeuren....

Building Cat Stairs For Batman

My furry monster Batman (under doctor’s orders) wanted a higher place to overlook all the music studio activities. This is why he demanded I build him an intricate system of cat stairs that would give him access to the highest buildings (libraries) and towers (cd shelves) of the Lightbridge Studio...

Solar Eclipse 2015 in Thessaloniki

It’s this special time again when the moon comes to devour the sun! I read that it is the first eclipse to take place on the spring equinox since 1662. Here in Thessaloniki we only witnessed a small bite from the moon. Probably around 30% of the sun was covered. The day was very cold and cloudy, there were times where the sky looked like that sky-bomb scene from the finale of “Angels & Demons”. The Thessaloniki’s Group of Friends of Astronomy were kind enough to bring their telescopes and share them with the public downtown. When the clouds...

Eternal Journey – Nebular

I was very happy when my good friend Alex Papatheodorou invited me to guest again in his latest Eternal Journey album. Alex creates very imaginative space journeys with his music which fuses prog metal with tons of other elements and I had the honor to add a few synth bleeps here and there. The new album is called “Nebular” and is available now through various digital distributors. Alex quotes me as a big influence for starting Eternal Journey and I feel very privileged by this. If you are a fan of big prog epics like Ayreon (and why not,...

Star Tales 10 Years Anniversary

It’s been 10 years since the release of Star Tales. Can you believe it? Check out my latest Spacecast #10 with some unseen footage I discovered hidden in a dusty box in the attic. I surely don’t remember who this long-haired guy is and how he evolved into that glasses-collecting weirdo. “Star Tales” is a very colorful album, filled with sounds and ideas. “Star Tales” followed the 2 Dol Ammad demo CDs back in 2001 and 2002 who had the “Eclipse”, “Vortex 3003”, “The Hill of Hope” and the “Boxed Daylight” songs. Of course we re-recorded all those songs...

This fruit knows the truth

I was casually browsing through the fruit and veggies section at a huge local super market warehouse (selling some not-so-local products) yesterday and I found this strange tiny little pineapple ordering me to do the most extraordinary thing: I prefer to buy more local products but I couldn’t resist the power of this simple...

Dol Ammad – “Ocean Dynamics” 8 years later

I can’t believe it’s 8 years since the release of “Ocean Dynamics”…Seems like yesterday… I remember the album release back in the summer of 2006 while I was obliged to join the army, I was so pissed off that I almost missed the CDs arriving at my house. I had to organize everything through lousy internet cafes in small villages during my “army-breaks”. Mobile internet was out of the question price-wise back then and the phones were in the process of evolving from the snake-game era. I recently uploaded the full “Ocean Dynamics” album as videos in my YouTube...

Black Cat Appreciation Day 2014

It’s time to appreciate the awesomeness of the black cat today! Cats of all color are awesome but this special day intends to raise awareness of the fact that age-old superstitions and age-old stupidity result in black cats being the last to be adopted in shelters and the first ones to be euthanized. Check the video to see what you are missing if you don’t own a black cat already. My life has changed so much for the better since I got Batman that I now can’t remember how it was without him being around. A black cat is...

World Oceans Day 2014

Since 2008 the 8th of June is officially celebrated as the World Oceans Day. A reminder of the wondrous magic of the seas but also of the big problems that threaten marine life and our planet every day. Living in such a sea based country as Greece, the sea has always been a great inspiration for me and my music. photo credit: jessleecuizon via photopin cc My second Dol Ammad album “Ocean Dynamics” was inspired by the powers and beauty of the oceans. Liquid desert calling me To the bottom of the sea Leave your world and you will...

Going crazy with Batman

Farewell to H.R. Giger

I was just informed that the nightmare master H.R. Giger has died on the 12th of May after an accident he had falling down some stairs. He was 74 years old. I am shocked and sad that this genius artist is no longer within us. Mostly known for his work on movies like Alien, Poltergeist and Species, Giger has bestowed upon the world a huge legacy of dark art. He has been a great inspiration on my work and especially in Dol Kruug. I also can’t forget the impact the game Dark Seed had on me as a kid....

Space friends keep each other warm

A great surprise awaited me while I opened my PO Box yesterday. My great friend Cedric sent me a lovely fleece blanket that displays our beloved video game hero Sonic the Hedgehog! The blanket couldn’t have arrived at a better time, since it has been rather chilly lately especially during the nights and it has helped me concentrate better with my urgent task of completing the Dol Kruug release. The Sonic design is outstanding and it re-triggers my desire to wonder where Sega will take their franchise with the upcoming Sonic Boom game. Cedric has an excellent French metal...

A day expressed in cups

This photo pretty much sums up my typical day and what my peripheral vision sees on my right while I work. From left to right, a double capuccino to start the day in the morning, a green-tea with cinammon and orange in my favorite WALL-E cup for the evening and finally the mega-egyptian-style cup holds my overdose of white milk through the night. What does your day look...

My 2013 in retrospect

So as there are only a few hours left for the new year to come, I decided to glimpse back at some of my personal highlights of 2013. New website – Lightbridge.tv I feel that my biggest achievement for 2013 has to be this very website, my first personal attempt at creating and managing my web content and e-shop using the WordPress blogging platform. I spent most of the first half of 2013 working on it. Here is Spacecast #05 where I announced the website and also performed a celebratory Tuvalu dance: Dol Theeta’s “Keep Deep” announced The second...

Farewell to Bernard Parmegiani

One of the greatest pioneers of electronic music passed away today at the age of 86. Bernard Parmegiani was one of the first explorers of experimental and avant-garde electronic music. His notorious tape-splicing techniques back when music technology was only science fiction paved the way to the development of samplers and sample-based music. Alongside composers Luc Ferrari and Iannis Xenakis, Bernard Parmegiani taught us that sound is music. Sound is...

Paranormal poke-ctivity

I got poked by a spirit today morning…Yes, you’ve heard me say lots of wacky things but I swear that this is 100% true and did indeed happen while I had my full conscience. We were snoozing as usual with Batman in the morning, he was wide awake since it was his breakfast time and he was making his usual squeaky lovely noises. I was also awake, just enjoying the morning under the duvet and would get up in a minute, WHEN SUDDENLY……!!! I got poked four (yes 4) times on my back by an invisible finger!!! The feeling...

A horse in the fog

“Me and my horse Spirit decided to rest for a while. The fog kept making our climb towards the village harder. At the same time the world seemed different, a strange beauty was added to our surroundings with nature’s mysterious veil. We continued to ascend the mountain…” No I am not writing a novel, I just went for a refreshing trip to the Greek mountains where I was entranced by this beautiful fog. Now bear with me if you are from the United Kingdom or other Northern climates but it is something that I miss in my everyday life...
