One of the greatest pioneers of electronic music passed away today at the age of 86. Bernard Parmegiani was one of the first explorers of experimental and avant-garde electronic music.

His notorious tape-splicing techniques back when music technology was only science fiction paved the way to the development of samplers and sample-based music. Alongside composers Luc Ferrari and Iannis Xenakis, Bernard Parmegiani taught us that sound is music. Sound is art.
