Recording and filming for Themis Mpasdekis’ contest

Our beloved Dol Ammad tenor and wonderfully-amazing friend Themis Mpasdekis is taking part in a famous Greek singing contest called Live 2 Sing. After weeks of voting he made it into the finals! He contacted me to record and film some songs for inclusion into the contest’s final voting phase and so the last couple of days we locked ourselves in my “Cosmos” studio and produced 3 video clips of cover versions of popular songs.

Cheers to Ilias the guitarist, Natasa the make-up artist, Eva the caterer and Batman the bringer of good luck 😛

Best of luck Themis!

Here is a video from the live performance of the song in the contest:

Master’s degree in Music and Visual technologies

Master’s degree in Music and Visual technologies

Great news! The previous week I finished my Master’s degree! It is my second MSc and it involved High Performance Computing Systems for Music and Visual technologies. It took place in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and I was studying about 2 years to complete it. My thesis was an attempt to create a software that will visualize music in many different ways. It’s title is “Visualization of audio signals and visual – aural conversion of touch and interaction signals”. Let me know if someone would like to know more about it.

So with the Master’s degree out of the way the road is open for full time Music-making! Hooray!!! My new year’s resolution is to have the 3rd full Dol Ammad album ready in 2011. Let’s go!

Oiling up the guns!

Oiling up the guns!

One of my synths needed maintenance as some knobs started malfunctioning. My cat Batman and I took it apart and dashed to the rescue!

I'll stay here and check your progress.

Just one more drop.

Happy Holidays to all!

My guest appearance in Eternal Journey’s “Threshold of Pain”

My guest appearance in Eternal Journey’s “Threshold of Pain”

I am excited to reveal a great project I took part in some time ago. I got contacted by Alex Papatheodorou the composer and lyricist of Eternal Journey in order to participate in his debut album “Threshold of Pain”.

I loved the music and it was an honor to be a part of Alex’s Space Metal explorations and so I laid down some synthesizers for 2 of the tracks in the album. Check out the project here: http://www.eternaljourney.de/

Interview at Magic Fire Music 2010

Interview at Magic Fire Music 2010

I was drinking my regular gallons of milk when suddenly I was interrupted by a Facebook request… Thankfully it was my good friend Cedric from Magic Fire Music with a great bunch of questions for a new interview…

Magic Fire Music : Hi Thanasis, how are you? It is our second interview with you. That deserves to be celebrated! What happened for you since the release of Dol Theeta?

Thanasis Lightbridge : Hey Cedric! Nice to talk with you again for Magic Fire Music! Well after the release of “The Universe Expands” by Dol Theeta we focused in completing the release of the Dol Ammad EP “Winds Of The Sun” with some very special tracks and also to put together a nice Videoclip for the main song “Winds Of The Sun”. Apart from that I am finishing my second master’s degree in music/visuals technology. I also did some productions to local bands and visuals in the concerts of a retro-jazz project.

Magic Fire Music : The EP of Dol Ammad has just been released. Why did you choose to release a digital version of that EP and not a CD? (more…)
