I recently had the privilege to work on my first music for a video game. It was a life-long dream to some day work in the field of games which I enjoy so much. Harry Kalogirou and his nLogn development team trusted me with the task of composing music and designing sound effects for his new game “Pop Corny”. The game is a highly addictive little game that involves a cute monster (mr Corny) that devours pop corn endlessly!
I started working on the music and it was a breath of fresh air to take a break from my epic-space-battles that I am preparing with my music project Dol Ammad and to focus on simpler and cuter sounds for a video game.
Check out the music and sounds I created for the game:
The sound design was tons of fun as me and my cat Batman were running around in the studio with bags, pop corns, coins etc to make the proper sound effects.
I was really interested in a sound for a bag full of pop corn exploding so I bought tons of croissant bags that I bursted in various ways and tested the results.
Of course the real fun came when we moved the mics into the kitchen to record the actual pop corns.
Let’s hope I didn’t get oil on my expensive mic….
The game also called for various munching sounds. No problem there, I just devoured the pop corn I had just made 😛
In the end I had a great time and the honor to be part of a great game design team.
The game “Pop Corny” has reached number 1 place in the Greek app-store and it is available here : Download Pop Corny for free!
My first video cast is done! Check it out for exclusive samples from “Hyperspeed”, wrong button pushes, and guest appearance by Batman!
I am happy to announce that we’ve reached 5000 friends in our Facebook page for my music of Dol Ammad and Dol Theeta! The lucky number 5000 (H.A.A) gets any item he likes from our shop.
Thank you all for your great support 🙂
I recently updated our Flickr photostream. You can find all of Dol Ammad and Dol Theeta pics there.
Check it out:(edited 2013: I no longer hold a Flickr account, all the photos will be available in this blog from now on)
Hey friends, just a quick post to inform you that I am back from a few relaxing days by the sea!
I had some time to clear my head, I have finished all the lyrics for the Dol Ammad “Hyperspeed” album and I will be posting the full tracklist and lyrics the next days. Ok I am going to unpack and we’ll catch up later 🙂
Here is the second gift for our friends who subscribe to the Lightbridge Newsletter. The song “Spacelodica” is a special track I recorded to honor my endorsement deal with Hohner musical instruments.
In “Spacelodica” all the sounds except for bass and drums, come from a different Hohner melodica. I experimented using the melodica as a lead and bass instrument and also through special sound effects. I even used a vocoder to filter the vocals through the melodica sound. The song is a different take on the Dol Theeta’s song “Something Called Tomorrow” from the Dol Theeta album “The Universe Expands”.
Download the free mp3 by subscribing to our Newsletter. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it 😛
Thank you Hohner and cheers to another 50 years of amazing sounds and music!
