I recently had the privilege to work on my first music for a video game. It was a life-long dream to some day work in the field of games which I enjoy so much. Harry Kalogirou and his nLogn development team trusted me with the task of composing music and designing sound effects for his new game “Pop Corny”. The game is a highly addictive little game that involves a cute monster (mr Corny) that devours pop corn endlessly!
I started working on the music and it was a breath of fresh air to take a break from my epic-space-battles that I am preparing with my music project Dol Ammad and to focus on simpler and cuter sounds for a video game.
Check out the music and sounds I created for the game:
The sound design was tons of fun as me and my cat Batman were running around in the studio with bags, pop corns, coins etc to make the proper sound effects.
I was really interested in a sound for a bag full of pop corn exploding so I bought tons of croissant bags that I bursted in various ways and tested the results.
Of course the real fun came when we moved the mics into the kitchen to record the actual pop corns.
Let’s hope I didn’t get oil on my expensive mic….
The game also called for various munching sounds. No problem there, I just devoured the pop corn I had just made 😛
In the end I had a great time and the honor to be part of a great game design team.
The game “Pop Corny” has reached number 1 place in the Greek app-store and it is available here : Download Pop Corny for free!
