Drumming for Synthetic
I recently had the honor to be asked to play and record the drums for the debut album of a newly formed heavy metal band called “Synthetic”. Synthetic features members from the band Synesthesia and who live both in Greece and also in the UK.
Synthetic fuse various metal genres, progressive, traditional, melodic and aggressive. They should satisfy any metal fan but especially fans of Nevermore, Fear Factory and Soilwork.
Their album is currently being mixed by Ettore Rigotti (known from his work with Disarmonia Mundi) and will also feature a special guest drumming from the amazing Dirk Verbeuren.
I wish the best of luck to Synthetic with their new CD, check it out when it is released (maybe sometime in Autumn 2015?) and Space On!

Solar Eclipse 2015 in Thessaloniki
It’s this special time again when the moon comes to devour the sun! I read that it is the first eclipse to take place on the spring equinox since 1662. Here in Thessaloniki we only witnessed a small bite from the moon. Probably around 30% of the sun was covered. The day was very cold and cloudy, there were times where the sky looked like that sky-bomb scene from the finale of “Angels & Demons”.
The Thessaloniki’s Group of Friends of Astronomy were kind enough to bring their telescopes and share them with the public downtown.
When the clouds cleared it was a very interesting phenomenon to watch the sun become pac-man shaped.
Kortessa who is a member of the Friends of Astronomy Group was also there of course!
She was very happy!
You can watch the eclipse in full here:
And here is something to listen in the background while you do that:
Eternal Journey – Nebular
I was very happy when my good friend Alex Papatheodorou invited me to guest again in his latest Eternal Journey album. Alex creates very imaginative space journeys with his music which fuses prog metal with tons of other elements and I had the honor to add a few synth bleeps here and there. The new album is called “Nebular” and is available now through various digital distributors.
Alex quotes me as a big influence for starting Eternal Journey and I feel very privileged by this. If you are a fan of big prog epics like Ayreon (and why not, even Dol Ammad) you should certainly check this out!
